The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Commission has announced important updates to how providers prove their identity when accessing NDIS portals, a move designed to strengthen digital security and protect the broader NDIS community from scams, fraud, and data breaches.
From 7 December 2025, the Commission will begin transitioning providers away from Provider Digital Access (PRODA) to a new system that uses Digital ID (myID) in conjunction with the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).
This change reflects a growing national push toward stronger, standardised digital verification processes across government systems.
What’s Changing
- Digital ID (myID) — The Australian Government’s secure digital identity platform — will replace PRODA as the primary login method.
- Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) — an online service that enables individuals to act on behalf of an organisation — will be used alongside myID to manage permissions and authorisations.
- Providers will continue using PRODA during a transition period that runs until 30 September 2026, after which PRODA access will be discontinued.
- NDIS participants and plan managers who access portals for worker screening will continue to use PRODA until further notice.
It’s important to note that these updates do not replace or change the existing NDIS Worker Screening Check process.
What This Means for Providers
These new requirements will mean additional setup steps for many providers, including verifying identities through myID, linking their organisation in RAM, and ensuring that staff are properly authorised to act on behalf of their NDIS business.
While the Commission has provided a gradual transition timeline, providers who delay setup may face disruptions in accessing critical compliance and registration services later in 2026. This is where expert support can make all the difference.
